What you need to know about post-surgical bras

September 19, 2017

As a patient it is important to know going into your breast surgery that you have everything you need for the best possible recovery. Your post-surgical bra is a key element to your recovery.

A post-surgery bra is a support garment, much like a sports bra, that is to be worn following breast surgery. A good quality bra will make you a lot more comfortable post-surgery and can speed up the recovery process. The post-surgical bra provides firm all round support which helps reduce scar tissue. Wearing a standard bra will cause irritation and problems with the healing process.

At Candover, we supply you with your post-surgical bra immediately after surgery, when you have a breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast uplift or breast reconstruction.

You will be advised to wear the post-surgical bra for 4-6 weeks after your procedure. The garment should be worn as much as possible, day and night, for the first few weeks. After this period, you can return to wearing normal bras, including underwired varieties.
