Breast reduction, also known as mammoplasty is commonly undertaken to improve body proportion, when the breasts are out of proportion to the rest of the body. If the breasts are too large women can experience severe backache, difficulties participating in certain sports as well as low self-esteem. Breast reduction surgery involves reducing the weight and volume of breasts. An incision is made and excess skin and tissue is removed.
Male Breast Reduction (Gynaecomastia Reduction)
Men can have breast reduction surgery if they have enlarged breasts, a condition known as gynaecomastia. Breast reduction surgery can be carried out to flatten the breast area of men who feel self-conscious about their appearance. The procedure involves an incision to remove the excess tissue and liposuction to remove the excess fat. The benefits of surgery can lead to increased self-confidence and self-esteem with the choice to wear a wider selection of clothes.
